Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a spiral galaxy located 24 million light years away in the constellation of Sculptor at a declination of -25 degrees.  This magnitude 11.6 galaxy spans 7 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 50,000 light years.

Although this galaxy is close, its inclination to us at 15 degrees from edge-on prevents us from seeing many disk details.  This galaxy has no bulge and a poor arm structure.  Some dust lanes are seen, although like the arm structure they are difficult to clearly trace.
